Fondation Noura is proud to announce the signing of a partnership agreement between Mr. Jay Legette, CEO of Fondation Noura, and Ms. Messouda Mint Baham, Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, marking a significant step forward in the implementation of the ECO-PRISON initiative.
The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration to promote environmental sustainability within Mauritania’s prison system. Through the ECO-PRISON project, detainees participate in activities such as tree nurseries, gardening, waste recycling, and environmental awareness, while developing practical skills that support their rehabilitation and future reintegration into society.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to protecting the environment while creating meaningful opportunities for personal growth and social inclusion. By combining environmental action with rehabilitation, the ECO-PRISON project demonstrates how sustainable development can contribute to restoring dignity and building second chances.
Fondation Noura extends its sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development for its confidence and collaboration. Together, we look forward to expanding the impact of the ECO-PRISON initiative and fostering greener, more inclusive communities across Mauritania.
